CYPRUS WEEK

15 – 20 JULY

Presented by Theatro Technis in association with the National Federation of Cypriots in UK to coincide with the 39th  anniversary of the greek junta coup and the Turkish invasion & occupation of 34.7% of  the  Republic of Cyprus. At the same time to  advocate for the unification of the island as   A truly independent federated state for all the people of Cyprus.

PROGRAMME

MONDAY, 15 JULY, 7.00 PM : RAISING THE FLAGS OF THE REPUBLIC OF CYPRUS & EUROPEAN UNION. An EXHIBITION OF THE ARCHIVES OF THEATRO TECHNIS AND CYPRIOT COMMUNITY IN CAMDEN FUNDED BY THE HERITAGE LOTTERY FUND AND UNITY THEATRE TRUST.

AMONG THE GUESTS WILL BE THE MAYOR OF OCCUPIED KYRENIA, glafcos kariolou, and The MAYOR OF OCCUPIED Akanthous, Savvas Savvides,  There will also be songs and Music BY  Michaeloudis  Orchestra & EKA CHOIR, followed by PANTELEIMON MICHAELOUDIS and his Friends performs his own COMPOSITIONS for GUITAR, VIOLIN AND FLUTE.

Tuesday, 16th July, 7.00 pm: Glafcos Kariolou, THE MAYOR OF OCCUPIED KYRENIA, WILL TALK TO KYRENIANS AND ANYBODY WHO INTERESTED ABOUT THE FUTURE OF KYRENIA. IT WILL BE FOLLOWED BY A SHORT PLAY ‘THE CUT’ BY ELENI SKARPARI, THAT EXPLORES THE NORTH AND SOUTH DIVISION IN CYPRUS, THROUGH THE DIFFICULTIES FACED BY THE YOUNGER GENERATION, WHILST RAISING CRUCIAL QUESTIONS ABOUT THE MEDIA, FOLLOWED BY A  CONCERT BY THE FAMOUS LATIN AMERICAN HARPIST, RICHARDO CURBELLO and some poetry by Vasilis Panayi and others

WEDNESDAY, 17th JULY, 7.30 pm.  “   A SEMINAR ‘ Eradicating out the past: “ Turkey’s Assault on the Hellenic heritage of Cyprus”   By Lobby FOR Cyprus. SPEAKERS: Glafcos KARIOLOU ( Mayor of Turkish occupied Kyrenia), The HON. Jim karyyiannis pc mp ( liberal member of the Canadian house of commons) tasoula hagjitofi ( founder of walk of truth) costas  frangeskides ( lobby for Cyprus)
