Theatro Technis' 60th Anniversary
 

At the beginning of this May, Theatro Technis is celebrating its 60th aniversary! To comemerate our diamond anniversary, we not only have a gala evening planned but also a range of events form music to theatre form around the world!

Monday 1st May 3pm and 7:30pm

To kick things off, we're welcoming Tayo Aluko back for a double bill of his orignial works - Call Mr Robeson and Just an Ordinary Lawyer.

Tuesday 2nd May

Our gala evenings kicks off at 7:30pm - come along! Join us as we celebrate what makes this theatre great - all of those who have supported us! The evening will feature speeches from those who have supported the theatre as well as various performances!

Performers includes

Harpist, Singer, Composer and Poet El Condor, Ricardo García-Curbelo, istoday an ambassador of the Latin American poetry and music; he is author of numerous compositions, exceeding 500 hundred works of instrumental music, songs and poetry. From an early age Ricardo has been an eminent representative artist of his culture, nationally and internationally, on a wide variety of stages and has become known for his passionate, gifted way of communicating with the public. Established in England since 1979, he has shared the stage with different accomplished stage performers from around the world. Ricardo has recorded 4 singles and 4 albums, his most recent recording being Espiritu Llanero / A Londres, a lovely, romantic, varied album with themes for all occasions.

There are a few small criteria - If it’s in London it’s fine no extra costs if it’s way outside London travelling and accommodation costs will apply this to be gauged by a travelling time of more than two hours from my home address. Date and time by arrangement with me to fit my diary schedule.

Cypriot Evening 3rd May 7:30pm

An evening of celebration for all things Cypriot! Theatro Technis will honour its roots and what it set out to achieve all those years ago! More details to follow.

 
Thursday 4th May 7:30pm

Theatre A`part will perform Game of Life and Death in the Ash Desert'. After a big catastrophe, most likely a World military conflict, only three people are left on Earth. The Father, Avel and Anna. They live in the ash desert among what’s left of their lives. Each one of them has their occupation and is looking for a reason to continue to live. Kine’s surprising arrival radically changes everyone’s life. Love, hate, hope, passion and jealousy are intertwined. Will this storm of passions and undercurrents be the reason for the self-destruction of all life left on Earth? Or will a new future be born?

The company was created in 1985 (PhD. Sasho Petkov) as a students underground theatrical formation, directed in experimental area of avant-garde theatre.After the democratic changes in Bulgaria, ‘A`part’became one of the first professional alternative, non- subsidised theatres in the country.

Friday 5th May 1pm

Theatre A`part will host a workshop we will be able to demonstrate their methids, which is called Collective Directed Theatrical Improvisation, with the participation of the attending fellow-actors. The title we suggest is “Corners of Time”. During this workshop, the willing attendees will create a theatrical miniature. The company will demonstrate their method in action, and after that they are going to give creative explanations and put specific tasks to each of the participants. This will be followed by building of a stage setting and the participants, under the guidance of the performer, Sasho Petkov, patticipants embark on a directed improvisation aiming to create a complete theatrical improvised form – spectacle.
